Womenswear Department Manager

We’re looking for a Department Manager to lead our Womenswear team. You’ll be responsible for our fast paced Forward Fashion department, on the ground floor, and our distinctive first floor, housing an extensive range of brands including Ganni, Rixo, All Saints, Sweaty Betty, Frame, Nobody’s Child and more.

Candidate’s profile

  • You will have a management experience in the service or retail industry.
  • Extensive experience in delivering a high level of customer service is essential.
  • You will have previous retail operations, budgeting, planning, sales and people management experience.
  • You will be an effective communicator with the ability to build relationships with ease.
  • You will be a team player who recognises and celebrates the contributions and achievements of others.
  • You will be confident in giving feedback that promotes positive behavioural change.
  • You will have strong people management skills with the ability to resolve conflict and unproductive disagreements.
  • You will work well with change, being able to quickly adapt and work with pace.
  • You will be energetic and authentic showing a clear presence on the shop floor.

Overall Purpose

The purpose of this role within Voisins is as follows:

  1. To implement the Company’s strategic policy and objectives at Department level.
  2. To manage and lead the Department team.
  3. To work with the Buyer in stocking the department with appropriate merchandise at agreed levels.
  4. To achieve agreed department profit targets, sales targets and realised margin targets within the expense budgets.
  5. To set standards and constantly review performance to improve standards with particular regard to customer service, merchandise presentation, housekeeping and staff appearance.
  6. To effectively manage any concessions within the product area.

Key Result Areas 

  • Responsible, with the Buyer, for setting monthly and weekly sales targets for the department and measuring the department’s performance against these targets.
  • Responsible for setting daily and weekly sales targets for individual members of the department team, monitor performance of staff ensuring formal assessments and appraisals are conducted to deadline.
  • Responsible for managing and developing the people in the department team and developing skills and product knowledge.
  • Assist the Buyer in maintaining stock assortment and range in accordance with the agreed range plan and company policy.
  • Responsible for providing feedback on the range plan every season and proposing adjustments.
  • Responsible for planning and monitoring the department’s expenditure on staff costs and all other consumable materials. Responsible for keeping expenditure on expense items within budget.
  • Responsible for maintaining a comprehensive knowledge of the brands and products available on the market.
  • Work with the Buyer to plan and execute the department’s promotional calendar.
  • Responsible for general security in the department and applying company Health and Safety practices.
  • Responsible for ensuring that a part of each working day is spent attending to customers in their own department, to ensure an updated knowledge of customer preferences, needs and trends.
  • Responsible for achieving agreed standard of visual merchandise presentation and overall visual appearance in the department.
  • Responsible for dealing with Customer complaints.
  • Be responsible for their own continuous professional development.
