Robert Welch was one of Britain’s most respected and prolific designer craftsmen. He trained as a silversmith at the Birmingham College of Art before moving to the Royal College of Art in 1952 where he specialised in stainless steel production design and unique designs in silver. In 1965 he was awarded the title of Royal Designer for Industry. His most important commissions are in museum collection throughout the world including the V&A and British Museum, London and the Museum of Modern Art, New York.
